For years, ACGIH's Threshold Limit ValuesTM and Biological Exposure
IndicesTM have been well - known around the world by safety and health
professionals. Now the recommended exposure limits are earning
recognition across a wide range of professions.
The American Society of Association executives (ASAE) has included
ACGIH's TLVs and BEIs in its 75th anniversary showcase of "75 great
programs that demonstrate how associations advance America." ASAE
describes the programs in an article within the August issue of its
magazine, Association Management.
The article, "75 Examples of Associations Advancing America : A Salute
to Voluntary Initiatives That Make Society Better," lauds ACGIH for its
more than 50 years of recommending scientifically based workplace
exposure limits and for its technical guidance to government and
industry on worker health and safety. It specifically cites the annual
circulation of more than 100,000 TLV/BEI Booklets worldwide.
Each of the 75 programs listed in the article is a past winner of
ASAE's Associations Advance America Awards. ACGIH won an Award of
Excellence last year for its occupational exposure recommendations The
awards program also placed ACGIH on its honor roll for the publication
of Industrial Ventilation : A Manual of Recommended Practice.
ASAE has approximately 23,000 individual members who represent more
than 10,000 organizations across the country.
