'Assist Small-scale Enterprises in Urban areas’

KOSHA signed an MOU with Small Enterprise and Market Service (SEMAS) for "Accident Prevention in Urban Small-scale Enterprises" to protect workers in small enterprise and market service from occupational accidents.

Urban small-scale enterprises are ones with less than 10 workers manufacturing or processing leather, jewelry, bag, accessories, etc. They are populated in urban areas and exposed to vulnerable working environment such as heat, smell, dust or hazardous factors of machine equipment by industry type. SEMAS is now managing 23 'Small-scale Enterprise Support Centers' nationwide to give assistance to local small enterprises.

According to the MOU, KOSHA will provide risk assessment and improve working environment to 10,000 small-scale enterprises in cooperation with the 'Small-scale Enterprise Support Centers' of SEMAS.

In order to improve working environment, financial assistance for safety equipment and loan for accident prevention facilities will be delivered by KOSHA. At the same time, consulting service is provided targeting active implementation of 'risk assessment' which helps to identify harm and hazardous factors.

In line with this, OSH educational training and technical materials will be utilized to protect workers in the enterprises from occupational accidents and diseases.

SEMAS plans to actively inform target enterprises of the financial assistance for working environment improvement, consulting for risk assessment and OSH educational training for employers and employees in the industries.
