Development and distribution of the chemical hazard information plafform

Purpose

  • The aim is to develop an online platform that provides chemical hazard and risk control services especially tailored to poisoning-prone SMEs involved in the electronics industry, thereby encouraging SMEs to adopt the platform and ensure intelligent management of chemical hazards on work sites.

Features

  • Platform development
  • Usability: The platform was specifically designed to ensure SME workers’ safety and health against common poisoning accidents.
  • - An enhanced feature for hazard level alarms at high-risk work sites
  • - Time-weighted averages and short-term elevations in concentration (STEL, C) at certain hours when exposure to the given chemicals tends to peak
  • Interoperability and compatibility: The platform was developed using a standard communications protocol, and given data output systems (for both the KOSHA and SMEs) optimized for safety and health management.
  • - For KOSHA: The system displays the locations of all work sites with the remote sensors installed, chemical concentrations, and alarms.
  • - For SMEs: The system displays the locations of the remote sensors installed, chemical concentrations, and whether the sensors are in operation.
  • Enhancing the accessibility and usability of remote sensors
  • Additional remote sensors were developed and distributed to help prevent fatal accidents involving poisoning, asphyxiation, etc.
  • - The PCB circuit was standardized to accommodate multiple different types of sensors.
  • - A prototype was created and applied to pilot operation projects.
  • Manual: A standard manual was developed providing a guide on how the remote and around-the-clock monitoring system is to be used.
  • - A standard template for the on-site installation and application of remote sensors
  • - A guideline on how to indicate consent to the use of data collected about the work sites
  • Certification: The sensors will be certified so that SMEs can install and use them with reassurance.
  • - The remote sensors will be certified in the descending order of on-site priority (radio frequency certification, KC certification, and security certification).
